I am currently being paid $16/hour to label and stuff envelopes. Good times.

Realized/remembered today that I want to be a Park Ranger. Downloaded all the application paperwork. Only thing that worries me is the physical fitness test. I have a couple months to seriously work on my situps and pushups. Especially pushups. And I have no idea how much I can bench press, since I haven’t tried it since weight-lifting class in high school.

Starting wage is about the same as I make now, and there’s a fairly steep ladder up to $60,000/year, if I wanted to advance. Not sure how I feel about the law enforcement training part, but I have always wanted an excuse to carry a gun around with me πŸ˜‰

I would learn as much from being a Park Ranger as I would from the Wilderness Awareness School Residential Program. And the government would pay my $30,000 a year or so to learn it, as opposed to the WAS, which will charge me $10,000. Seems like a good trade-off to me. πŸ™‚ The application process takes 3 or 4 months, what with all the polygraphs and psychological testing and fitness testing and everything, so I will keep you updated.
