I was sending e-mails from within a departmental account that just shows the department name as the sender, not indicating who is actually typing the message.

E-mail exchange:

Me (disguised as generic department): Can you please include the ID# on the subject line of these e-mails?

Co-worker: The ID# is in my calendar.

Me: I don’t have access to your calendar.

Co-worker: Who is this?

Me: I am HAL. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error. I am now closing the airlocks. Goodbye, Dave.

(how’s that for a pop culture reference, :p )
